An Australian performance artist has set a Guinness world record by swallowing eighteen foils at the same time. Chayne Hultgren, AKA the Space Cowboy, beat his very own 2008 record by swallowing the sabres, each 72cm ( 28.35in ) long, at an event in Sydney. He revealed that while the stunt was not threatening, he spent many hours coaching for it. After setting the record, Mr Hultgren, 31, described it as definitely one of his best feats so far. “Wow, I did it, it feels good, thank you, it feels truly good actually,” he revealed.

Mr Hultgren started practising with epees at the age of sixteen and asserts he has used different techniques to hone the art. “I stretch my throat with hoses and employ a few different methods to essentially permit me to do what, till now, has been impossible”. “I do not just right away grab eighteen blades and force them down my throat – you need to practise a lot and build up to it,” he is saying.
